International day of WOMEN mathematics  Through hosting an Inter primary & secondary schools Competition  on 14.March

The International Day of Women in Mathematics  is a worldwide celebrations. Each year on March 14, all countries are invited to participate through activities for both students and the general public in schools, museums, libraries and other spaces

The proclamation of March 14 as the International Day of Mathematics was adopted by the Executive Council of UNESCO at its 205th session. It was adopted by the 40th session of the General Conference of UNESCO in November 2019. 

The inaugural celebration of the International Day of Women in Mathematics took place on May 12. 

Each year a new theme is announced to flavor the celebration, spark creativity and bring light to connections between mathematics and all sorts of fields, concepts and Ideas.

It is from this background that FIYO is organizing an event to celebrate the International Day of Women in Mathematics scheduled to take place on 12.May.

The event wil bring together over 400 invited guests ranging from Government officials, Mathematicians, Donors, school Head teachers, Parents, Teachers, students and other stakeholders in the education sector. Speeches from Government Offiicials and other distinguished guests, Mathematicians will share to the audience aimed at boosting students to overcome fear and have positive attitude towards Science especially Mathematics as well as building confidence and choosing Math as their optional course in upper Secondary and University.

It is also a platform for education partners including policy makers, parents, Civil Society Organizations and teachers about their role in promoting math subject in Rwanda.

Women role models in Mathematics will be invited to mainly encourage girls to undertake their studies in Mathematics in big numbers and break traditional forbear that girls cannot manage to study science and math inclusive.
