EMpowering bwiza potter communities through education
The project goal is to eradicate illiteracy among women and girls among the community of potters in Bwiza village. In total, 180 potters (165 women and 15 men) from Bwiza village graduated with the capacity to read, write and count
\FIYO organizes a general sensitization campaign for the adult literacy program for potters in Bwiza village. In attedence, 500 Inhabitants, of whom 60% were women showed up. Mr Gahigi Moses, The Executive Director of FIYO, highlighted that FIYO was committed to empower the potters community of Bwiza through Education.
The residents of the
potters community will be sensitized on different Government programs namely:
fighting gender based violence, joining cooperatives, family planning, hygiene,
nutrition and HIV/AIDS prevention and environment protection.
He called upon maximum support from different stakeholders namely: local and church leaders, the potter’s community. He pointed out that the project was being funded by AusAid.
